This is a question I get very often. Which source of Protein is the best. The best answer to that question is … FOOD! LOL! But I understand we all have a busy life. Supplements help in that area. The problem with majority of the companies is the use of artificial fillers that make the product bad. That is an entirely different subject, but the point is, you would want to make sure that the product does not have huge list of ingredients and if you’re choosing Whey Protein, it is preferred that the Whey is made from cows not treated with rBGH.

After researching the market and using a few products, here are my top 5 recommendations on Protein sources/manufacturers. I’ll be posting links, and as always, I don’t get a fee or any money for referring these products to you. Except Shakeology, which is available for purchase on my website. Note that supplements usually don’t have any calories. These products/foods have calories which means it is a food. Whey is food. If you have the bandwidth, you can make it at home as well. It’s not a supplement and not supposed to give you super huge muscles the way it is advertised in the fitness industry.

1) Organic Whey

This is the first product I tried. The taste is not good at all. But the product quality is top notch. You could make a shake out of it using fruits etc and make it tasty, but by itself might be difficult to drink. This is also a certified organic product, and that translates into higher cost. Totally worth it.

Cost Value: 4/5
Taste: 3/5

2) Jay Robb

I use this Whey Protein a lot. Jay Robb is a trusted brand and also very tasty. It’s not certified organic, but the Whey is made from cows that are not treated with rBGH. That is a huge plus! The flavors are quite good and you can drink just with plain water.

3) Shakeology

I have a whole section dedicated to this supplement. In fact, I consider this food. There are Vegan options also available that makes this product very unique. No other product comes close. Take a look here. Says it all.

Cost Value: 5/5
Taste Value: 4/5

4) Sunwarrior Vegan Protein

Sunwarrior is an extremely good brand. The protein source is brown rice, and this is vegan. Sunwarrior has done an excellent job of keeping the taste good considering Vegan protein powders are a bit chalky.

Cost Value: 5/5
Taste Value: 4/5

5) Food

What can I say? Eggs, Milk, Poultry, Almonds, in short, food. This is the best and the most economical way to get your protein. All the fancy stuff doesn’t matter if the food intake is not dialed in correctly. Just go to your nearest grocery store and eat the healthy way. Click on the link for food just for some fun.

Cost Value: 5/5
Taste: 5/5 (If I make it 😀 )
